Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy

I am a registered Hypnotherapist with the General Register of Hypnotherapists. Hypnotherapy is incredibly powerful in helping overcome personal, emotional & habitual problems and works brilliantly in conjunction with coaching.  I work primarily as a coach but when agreed with my clients we will use hypnosis & hypnotherapy to help overcome any blocks, embed change at a deeper level and help with relaxation.

What is Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is  a deep state of relaxation, during which our unconscious minds are highly receptive to new perspectives and ideas. Hypnotherapy can be used to help you achieve fast and long lasting change.   Hypnotherapy uses the hypnotic state to help people overcome their issues and motivate them to achieve change or reach goals more easily.


The reason why hypnosis is so effective lies in the fact that it bypasses the conscious mind and creates an alternative state of consciousness during which attention is focused away from the present reality. Rather like day dreaming, attention can then be focused towards particular images, thoughts, feelings, perspectives and behaviours which will help us to change or update the information stored in our unconscious, thus changing our unhelpful habitual responses. While in hypnosis the critical faculties of the conscious mind are partially suspended, this allows suggestions to be accepted and experiences or memories to be revisited and worked through, to overcome the issues you are experiencing.


From birth we learn by modelling other peoples’ behaviours and beliefs and our own emotional experiences (a lot of which can be negative) and both these conditioned and learned responses stay with us over time. Whether your wish is to get rid of an unwanted habit or behaviour, to gain relief from a specific emotional issue, or to simply have more self-belief, motivation and confidence to make those all important changes in life, Hypnotherapy can help you achieve your goal.


Types of Hypnotherapy

There are two main categories of Hypnotherapy: Suggestion Therapy and Hypno-analysis.


Hypnotic Suggestion is the hypnotherapy that most people think of when talking about Hypnosis.  Using the hypotic state to embed suggestions which alter your belief system to change the way you feel and behave, allowing you to overcome the problems you have been experiencing. After an initial chat to discuss your needs, you will be relaxed into a calm state of mind and given tailored suggestions to help change your thoughts, feeling and behaviours. Hypnotic Suggestion is ideal for breaking habits such as Smoking, Nail-biting, or to help with confidence or motivation related issues. 


Hypno-analysis or Analytical Hypnotherapy is an extremely effective form of therapy that helps to resolve the root cause of the problem helping resolve personal, emotional and psychologival issues such as Anxiety, Fears and Phobias, Confidence and Self-esteem. Using hypnosis often via regression to experiences in your past to allow you to understand and resolve your issues. If your thoughts and feeling are creating emotions that impact on your behaviour or performance. Hypno-analysis can help you break free from these limiting feelings allowing you to make positive change in your life. 


My aim is to use Suggestion and Hypno-analysis to assist clients to fix unhelpful patterns so they can improve their lives and feel healthier & happier.  I am extremely flexible in how I adapt my knowledge and skills to meet my client’s needs.
